Kuhu exists so children can inherit their family's language. Protecting those children is not a compliance checkbox for us; it is the design of the product. Here is what we promise, with no legal fog:
No name, no age, no photo, no voice, no location. Your child cannot type anything into Kuhu, cannot create an account, and cannot be identified by anything we store. Lesson progress is saved to your parent account — it says “this family completed the Colours lesson”, never who did.
The screens children use contain no advertising and no third-party trackers of any kind. We keep basic visitor counting on our parent-facing marketing pages only, and we technically block it from ever running inside the learning app. Nothing a child does is profiled, scored for engagement, or used to “optimise” their attention.
When Kuhu speaks Bangla or Hindi, your child hears audio files we created in advance. The app never records your child and never sends anything a child does to any AI or voice service.
Only an adult can create an account, and only after actively confirming they are the parent or guardian — we keep a record of that consent, as India's DPDP law requires. Parents can see everything, delete everything, and reach a human at privacy@kuhukids.com (or grievance@kuhukids.com) any time.
When a parent adds family photos or records a rhyme in their own voice, those stay in your browser on your own device — they are never uploaded and Kuhu never sees them. Only a grown-up can add them, and the app itself never records your child.
Our families live everywhere — India, the US, the UK, Europe, the Gulf, and beyond. Children's privacy laws differ by country (India's DPDP, America's COPPA, the EU/UK's GDPR and Age-Appropriate Design Code), so we take the strictest rule from each and apply it to every family. Your child gets the same protection in New Jersey, London, Dubai or Kolkata.
No chat. No comments. No friend lists. No sharing with strangers. No leaderboards against unknown children. If a feature could ever let a stranger reach a child, we simply don't build it.
